Eco-Chic: Designing for Sustainability9.5.2013 | 3:39 pm | Posted by Brianna Mannion
Just in time for the start of the NFL Season, Architectural Digest featured our own New England Quarterback Tom Brady and wife Gisele Bündchen at their new Brentwood home. Finding comfort during the off season in the warm California climate, the couple decided to purchase land with views of the Pacific Ocean and construct their dream home. “It was important for us to plant roots for our family, and since we both enjoy the creative process, we decided to start from scratch,” Brady recalls. Their sanctuary is designed as a relaxing and comfortable retreat for family and friends. “I like simplicity and coziness, I want to live in a place that feels like a real home, where you can put your feet up on the couch and just relax”, says Gisele.
With Gisele’s involvement with the United Nations Environment Programme, one of the couple’s primary focuses of this project was the incorporation of sustainable building practices along with conserving energy throughout the lifecycle of the home. The exterior cladding of this home is made with three types of Texas Limestone, providing protection from the elements and a green option to synthetic siding materials. Limestone is durable, impact-resistant, and virtually fireproof ensuring it will retain its natural beauty and protect your home for generations to come.
