April 1987

United Marble Fabricators incorporates in Massachusetts in a small shop at 31 Newberne Street in Somerville, MA. Founded by Tom Kilfoyle, Alberto Paralle, and Santino Gemellaro, a team of six craftspeople provide stone and tile installation services.

Summer 1988

The Burlington Mall, anchored by Sears, Jordan Marsh, and Filene’s, expands by adding a second story, as well as eastside anchor Lord & Taylor. United Marble Fabricators provides fabrication and Kilfoyle & Paralle provides the installation of marble and tile flooring for the entire mall, as well as the interior facade of each remaining anchor store, which can still be seen today.


Granite countertops become a popular surfacing option in residences throughout New England. Imported slab is only available in ¾” thickness. To create the traditional 1 ½” edge detail, two pieces of ¾” stone are laminated together.

Summer 1990

Quickly outgrowing the original shop, United Marble Fabricators relocates to a larger fabrication facility, renting a space at 205 Arlington Street in Watertown, MA.


United Marble Fabricators creates a niche in the high-end residential market, develops a small crew of artisans dedicated to providing a one stop shopping solution for supplying, fabricating, and installing stone and tile.


United opens its first retail showroom to the public. United Tile America, located at 222 Arsenal Street in Watertown provides tile and stone to the developing suburbs of the metro-Boston area.


United once again outgrows the fabrication facility. Intent on further investment into the industry and local community, United purchases a nearby industrial building, creating a new fabrication and warehouse facility at 10 Munroe Avenue in Watertown, MA.


Steady growth in the high-end residential market allows for the expansion of the fabrication team as well as the project management team.

Spring 2005

United officially becomes a multi-generational family business when Kristen Kilfoyle joins the team at United Tile America. Starting as an entry level sales associate, Kristen quickly rises through the company, and becomes Showroom Manager.

Fall 2006

United Marble Fabricators expands its fabrication facility, more than doubling the square footage of the original building footprint. Envisioning a dustless environment for employees and clients, a Northwood CNC machine is installed alongside a state of the art closed-loop water treatment and recycling system, reducing environmental impact and increasing employee health and safety. United is recognized as an OSHA compliant fabrication facility.

Spring 2007

John Kilfoyle joins United as a field technician, creating templates and estimating new projects.

Fall 2011

United Marble Fabricators is recognized by national publication Stone World Magazine for twenty-five years of continued success in the stone and tile industry. The DIY Network asks United to help save a lackluster backyard with a recycled glass bar countertop on national program Indoors Out.

Spring 2012

United Marble Fabricators opens the doors to an innovative stone gallery at Suite 322 in the Boston Design Center. Recognized as a thought leader in the industry, the team adds several industry veterans to further the trademark quality craftsmanship and project management of United.

2013 and Beyond

While this chapter has yet to be written, we plan to continue our pursuit of perfection in providing distinctive stone and tile, expertly crafted and installed.
